Who was T.R.‘s choice to succeed him as president of the United States?

Send your answers to info@trcp.org. We’ll send one lucky winner a TRCP hat. Congratulations to Lex Morgan for answering last month’s T.R.ivia question correctly. The question: What famous publishing house underwrote T.R.’s African safari? The answer: Scribner’s Publishing.

Conservation Protection

Conservation means development as much as it does protection. I recognize the right and duty of this generation to develop and use the natural resources of our land; but I do not recognize the right to waste them, or to rob, by wasteful use, the generations that come after us.

-Theodore Roosevelt, “The New Nationalism,” speech at Osawatomie, Kans., 31 Aug. 1910

Geese Fly By

Thank you to Kevin Naze who submitted this photo on the TRCP Facebook page. Kevin wrote, “I told my daughter and her two friends … to walk toward this flock of Canadian geese so they could be awed by the sight and sound. One of the gals was from a non-hunting family and her eyes were opened to the beauty and thrill of the outdoors.”

We are sending Kevin a camo TRCP hat. We want to see how you TRCP! Submit your photos to info@trcp.org or on the TRCP Facebook page.

Great Waterways

The public must retain control of the great waterways. It is essential that any permit to obstruct them for reasons and on conditions that seem good at the moment should be subject to revision when changed conditions demand.

– Theodore Roosevelt, 1908

HOW YOU CAN HELP

CHEERS TO CONSERVATION

Theodore Roosevelt’s experiences hunting and fishing certainly fueled his passion for conservation, but it seems that a passion for coffee may have powered his mornings. In fact, Roosevelt’s son once said that his father’s coffee cup was “more in the nature of a bathtub.” TRCP has partnered with Afuera Coffee Co. to bring together his two loves: a strong morning brew and a dedication to conservation. With your purchase, you’ll not only enjoy waking up to the rich aroma of this bolder roast—you’ll be supporting the important work of preserving hunting and fishing opportunities for all.
